1. Overview & Purpose

GIMT Group of Institutions is committed to fostering academic integrity, innovation, and responsible technology usage. This policy outlines the acceptable use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools across academic coursework, research, and institutional operations.

2. Commitment to Academic Integrity

Students and faculty must uphold the highest standards of honesty and original work. AI tools should be used as learning aids to enhance understanding, rather than as substitutes for individual creative and critical thinking.

3. Acceptable Use of AI Tools

Permissible uses of AI tools include brainstorming concepts, grammar editing, coding assistance, and understanding complex topics, provided that the foundational work remains original and aligns with course-specific guidelines.

4. Unacceptable Use & Prohibitions

Submitting AI-generated content as original work without proper attribution, using AI during closed-book assessments, or generating misleading research data constitutes academic misconduct and is strictly prohibited.

5. Attribution & Citation Requirements

When AI tools are utilized for assistance in assignments, projects, or research papers, students must clearly cite the AI source and describe how it was used in accordance with institutional documentation guidelines.

6. Data Privacy & Confidentiality

Users must not input sensitive personal information, proprietary institutional research, or confidential student data into public AI models or external third-party software.

7. Institutional Monitoring & Detection

GIMT reserves the right to utilize advanced content verification and plagiarism detection software to ensure compliance with academic integrity policies.

8. Disciplinary Actions

Violations of the AI Ethics & Academic Compliance policy will be subject to review by the GIMT Academic Disciplinary Committee and may result in penalties ranging from assignment resubmission to academic suspension.

9. Faculty Responsibilities

Faculty members are responsible for setting clear AI usage guidelines within their respective course syllabi, providing guidance on ethical tool usage, and addressing potential policy breaches fairly.

10. Continuous Review & Updates

As AI technologies evolve, GIMT Group of Institutions will periodically review and update these compliance standards to reflect emerging educational and ethical practices.
